Sometime in October Kim Kardashian’s famous rapper husband, Kanye West, paid a visit to President Trump at the Oval Office. His visit was quite startling but what was more shocking was his expression of support for Donald Trump’s policies. Kanye wore the “make America great again” hat and even labeled Trump a hero in his monologue caused a stir on social media.
Kim tried her best to set the records straight at her last public appearance on Wednesday. She took time to explain that her husband is not so political but just happens to like the President’s personality. While speaking at the Criminal Justice Reform submit, Kim said, “very misunderstood and the worst communicator.”
She ensured that she chose her words very carefully this time explaining her efforts to educate her husband after the Oval Office meeting. She said, “I’ve educated him. I think he gets really misconstrued. He will always say that he was friendly with [Trump] before . . . and is friendly with him now. . . . I think what my husband fights for—and again, he’s not the best communicator at explaining it—but what he fights for is the right to like what he wants to like, even if it’s different from what you like.”
She rounded up by saying, “So he never said, ‘Oh yeah, I know all these [things]. What’s going on with immigration—and I know this, and I know that.’ If he really knew, he would feel very compassionate about it. So he’s never said that he supports that . . . I know it’s very confusing because, when you see someone wearing a red [MAGA] hat, you would think that they’re supporting that. But he’s just fighting for free thought. And for the freedom to like a person, even if it’s not the popular decision.”
Van Jones, the host and moderator of Kim’s panel, appreciated Kim for being “a Kanye translator.” This is however not the first time Kim is standing to clear the air about her husband’s views.
