Lagos Fashion Week has officially begun and our favorite stars and designers have showcased nothing but the best so far!!! The fashion event kicked off on Wednesday, 24th October, 2019.
The Lagos Fashion Week is a phenomenal platform where African designers are recognized, endorsed and celebrated on a grand scale. From Orange Culture, Jermaine Bleu to Rick Dusi, Bloke and many others, fashion was served on a platter of gold. Even the celebrities were not left out. Stars like Toke Makinwa, Toni Tones, Rema, amongst others made their debut runway appearances.
For the first day, the event opened with a launch party and a Fashion Business series Dinner titled “The Gathering”. It featured an amazing lineup of speakers such as, Richelieu Dennis, Bandana Tewari, Selly Raby Kane and Hirofumi Kurino.
Richelieu, who is the CEO and Founder of Essence Ventures, spoke on “Owning our culture”. Lifestyle journalist, Bandana, treated “Creative Sustainability” while the other speakers articulated on “Fashion and Identity”.
On the second day, the event continued at the Federal Place Hotels, Victoria Island Lagos. Talented African designers presented their latest collection in style.
Abuja-based designer, Yutee Rone Atelier, showcased wonderful pieces of her women’s wear collection. Also famous Nigerian star, Toke Makinwa, graced the runway in a gold sequin dress by Yuteerone.
DZYN also stirred our fashion appetites with delectable pieces from her ready-to-wear collection. The designer dedicated the collection to “every woman going through it and has been through it”. Toni Tones stunned on many levels as she walked the runway in a blue piece by DZYN.
Tokyo James and TTYA London collaborated and presented a timeless collection propagating the significance of unity. Hence its name, “united we stand, divided we fall”.
Day 3 featured phenomenal pieces from designers such as Haute Baso, Sunny Rose, Bridget Awosika, Sisiano and Cynthia Abila. Darling Nigeria also took centre stage as they displayed unique hairstyles on the runway.

Lagos Fashion Week is set to end on Sunday, 27th October, 2019.
