Lewis Hamilton made history on Sunday when he won the Russian Grand Prix for his 100th Formula One race. Hamilton claimed the championship lead by two points from Max Verstappen who emerged second.
The win comes after him being struck on 99 since the British Grand Prix in July. The Sunday Russian Grand Prix was struck by heavy rainfall making it possible for Hamilton to overtake the race leader Lando Norris.
Celebrating the win on his twitter account, Lewis noted, “Today we won our 100th race! Words can’t describe how it feels to make history with this team of hardworking, driven, and passionate human beings. We must keep fighting, keep rising. We’ve got a championship to win”.
There are six races to go in the Formula 1 season with the next race, Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled on October 10th.
