The much talked about animated version of Disney’s Lion King premieres.
Finally we get to see what we’ve been waiting for. You are excited too right? Even better, it’s hitting the screen in a few days. No you won’t be waiting too long – 19th is already upon us. The red carpet looks like everyone was in attendance – from Beyonce, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor to sweet young Simba, JD McCray, Tiffany Haddish, legendary Alfre Woodard and sisters Hally Bailey and Chloe – the head just keeps spinning. Too much to take in! Lion King Premiere nailed it hands down.
Flashing fashion here and there – the eyes wouldn’t stay calm. Don’t worry, you’ll get to see some pictures! Beyonce hit the runway (with Blue Ivy) – was called out to a standing ovation while Rogen (Seth) tells Jimmy Kimmel she’s getting an ovation for just existing. Yeah, stand-up-and-go-crazy, we’re-all-in-a-room-with-Beyonce kinda feeling. Something he totally understands.
But what do we call Jon Fraveau’s live animation remake – this monumental motion picture feat? Visually stunning, as Glover puts it. “I have never seen anything like it, we’re the first ones to ever do this, to make these really realistic scenes basically in a game engine,” he says.
Critics will have their day – trying to pull the flesh off every bone they find. Who cares? It’s for the excitement – to be enjoyed. Period! There was improvisation, comedy, everything had to look real – at least that’s Glover’s view. Who says animals don’t improvise in the jungle? Eichner says, “He’s surprised at how much improv ended up in the movie”. At one point Jon said “to throw the scripts down and just do the whole movie”. I think this makes it real you know, scenes jumping right out the top of the head.
Let’s do some pictures and leave the critics shall we?
