Newlyweds Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the first day of Royal Ascot today. The five-day horse race also known as Ascot Racecourse is one of the biggest social events of the year in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex rode in a carriage ride onto the course for the opening event, joining Queen Elizabeth, Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
The outdoor event is known for fancy food and high fashion. According to Town & Country there’s a very strict dress code for the event, women must dress modestly with hats or headpieces while men must wear traditional morning dress, complete with a hat.
Meghan sure got the memo and looked pretty in a white buttoned-down day dress from Givenchy who also designed her wedding dress. She matched the elegant look with a white hat with black details by Philip Treacy.
Harry also looked good in a traditional tailcoat and top hat.
