‘Delay of Game’ has been accorded national recognition after Parkers exhibition . The Green Bay, who own the Neville Public Museum in Brown County were awarded by American Association for State and Local History through its Leadership in History Awards.
‘Delay of Game’ highlighted the experiences of African American football players in Titletown.
This award is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in state and local history through community engagement. Its criteria for consideration covers relevance of work, through educational programs, exhibitions, publications and special projects within the community.
The Packers site reveals the formal institution of this honor will take place during the course of a banquet on August 30 in Philadelphia. The exhibit featured Packer players, Reggie White, Emlen Tunnell and Bob Mann. It also featured some others who were influential in changing the history of black football players in Green Bay.
The exhibit ran from August 2018 to March 2019. It was setup to showcase the early Parkers, Lombardi years, civil rights and the everyday experience of living in Green Bay. Wisconsin Historical Society also awarded ‘Delay of Game’ the 2019 Museum Exhibit Award.
A new exhibit, “Birds” organized by the Neville will run through till August 18 between 5-8 p.m. “Birds” will feature 50 taxidermy specimens, 88 eggs, 10 nests, 50 pieces of art and 25 artifacts featuring birds in fashion from the museum’s collection. Its free for Brown County Residents who can show proof of residency, their site revealed.
