Looks like Apple has nabbed Oprah for a multiyear deal for new original programs.
Apple says it is working with Oprah to create original programs that embrace her “incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world,” CNN reports.
It wasn’t clear if Oprah will actually appear in any of the shows, but she is expected to have an on-screen role as a host and interviewer. Apple says the deal will not affect Oprah’s contract with OWN, which was recently extended through 2025.
This ramps up the competition between Apple and other streaming services who are at war for consumers’ attention. In the last year, Apple has made deals for more than a dozen shows with big names including Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon and Kevin Durant.
