Bradley Watkins, a white man from Tennessee has been arrested after he was reported to have made an attempt to run over two black kids. He was also seen waving a gun, issuing threats at them and shouting racial slurs. The event occurred close to a Family Dollar store in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Memphis PD said they responded to the case as soon as it was reported on Saturday afternoon. In a statement by one of the victims, he said an argument ensued between Watkins and himself while in the store. Watkins resorted to using racial language and afterwards chased after the brothers with his white Ford Crown Victoria as they left the store. As he did, he pointed a gun at them still shouting the N-word and threatening to kill them.
By this time the two boys had split, running off in different directions. The incident was reported by their grandmother. An eye witness, a neighbor, said she had seen the children being run off the road by Watkins at a very high speed.
When asked about the incident, Watkins agreed to the fact that he had an argument with the kids. He however said nothing about chasing after them with his vehicle and didn’t let the police search his house or vehicle. He has been charged to court on two counts of aggravated assault.
Currently, he is being held at the Shelby County jail till the court hearing on Monday.
