Following her Rihannazine Magazine, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)announced on Tuesday that Rihanna has been named as the recipient of the President’s Award, and she will receive the honor at the upcoming NAACP Image Awards. Past recipients include Jay-Z, Jesse Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Muhammad Ali, Colin Powell, and a few others.
Derrick Johnson, the NAACP President, will present Rihanna with the award during the show, which takes place on February 22nd.
Johnson spoke about Rihanna’s impact and said, “Rihanna has not only enjoyed a groundbreaking career as an artist and musician but has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant. From her business achievements through Fenty to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice that we seek to highlight in our President’s Award.”
As we all know Rihanna has a well accomplish music career, and although fans continue to await the release of her highly anticipated next album. She has built her empire in both the fashion and beauty industry. From the launch of her Fenty Beauty makeup line to the release of her Savage x Fenty line, and multiple collaborations with Puma. Rihanna has earned the title of Wealthiest Female Musician in 2019.
Recipients of the President’s Award are in “recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service.” Rihanna also does a lot of work through her Clara Lionel Foundation, which she started in honor of her grandparents. The foundation supports and funds “groundbreaking and effective education and emergency response programs around the world.”
