Be The Liberated Bride!!!
MBBA Global Weddings Caught up with the liberated bride project series put together by @michelle_kaay, @doubledee and the rest of their team. This series is very inspiring and challenges would-be Black Brides to step out of the colonial “white wedding” boundaries and recreate their big day as they choose and according to the spur of their spirit.
According to the videographer, @michelle_kaay, “The Liberated Bride project was created to showcase weddings in a unique and unconventional light, something that is different from the ordinary white dress wedding theme, essentially a less rigid expectation of a “white wedding”. The style and aesthetic direction was atypical and tailored to each brides individuality. The goal was to inspire future brides to break out the norm, out of their comfort zone and be free even while celebrating a significant ceremony that has been passed on for years—This can mean so many things to so many people.

For this project, we wanted to show people that when it comes to weddings, you don’t have to do things by the book. We know that people usually stick to the white wedding theme because that’s what we’re used to seeing and that’s ok. But you can use your wedding to be as creative and unique as you are. Everyone who worked on this project used their own individual creativity to bring their own mission to life.
Black is equal to beauty, creativity and perfection. We are very excited about this project because it resonates with the very core of being black which is breaking boundaries in creativity. We are happy to share with you this marvelous works of these awesome black creatives and we want brides to ditch the “colonial mentality” wedding dresses, styles and procedures, and become The Liberated Bride.
