After revealing her seven-year separation from Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about her close friendship with the late Tupac Shakur. She emphasized that, contrary to any assumptions, a romantic relationship between them was never possible due to a lack of chemistry.
During an interview with Rolling Out conducted by Christal Jordan, Jada addressed the question of whether she regretted not pursuing a romantic relationship with Tupac, given their deep connection formed during their teenage years in Baltimore, Maryland. She firmly dismissed the idea of romance between them, stating, “It just wasn’t possible. There was no chemistry between us.”
Jordan expressed her surprise, observing that it appeared there was a great deal of chemistry between Jada and Tupac based on what she had shared. However, Jada emphasized that their connection was rooted in friendship, saying, “Trust me.”
Furthermore, Jada noted that it seemed as if she and Shakur were destined to be a “dynamic duo” who could never be romantically involved. She described it as a kind of “repelling nature” that prevented any romantic prospects between them. She remarked, “We had those moments, and I wish I could get people to understand the repelling nature. It was almost like God made us that way. It was like, ‘Look, we’ll put y’all together. Y’all gonna be a dynamic duo. But Imma tell you right now, Imma make it so y’all not gonna be able to get together.'”
Jada Pinkett Smith concluded by emphasizing that a romantic relationship was never the purpose of their connection.
