Seun Kuti, one of the sons of Afrobeat King, Fela Kuti. He is expected to be one of the performers at the 61st Grammy Awards billed to hold next week. The list of performers was published on the Grammys’ official website last Thursday.
Seun Kuti, who was also nominated for Best World MusicAlbum, will be performing together with other African artists. They include singer/songwriter from Mali, Fatoumata Diawara at the premiere ceremony of the Grammys. Black Times, Kuti’s album released in 2018 earned him the nomination. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard World Music Charts.
Several other African acts will be performing at the Premiere ceremony. They include trumpeter Craig Morris, Sofi Tukker, Snatam Kaur, Aida Cuevas, Natalia Lafourcade, and many others. The Grammys awards website also stated that the show will be aired live of the site from 12.30pm (Pacific Time) on February 10.
Seun Kuti is not the first of the Afrobeat dynasty to be nominated for a Grammy, his elder brother, Femi Kuti has had several Grammy nominations.
