
The Headies is a Music award Show established in 2006 formerly called Hip Hop World Awards was established by Hip Hop world Magazine in Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry. The 2019 edition of the Headies award has come and gone with Teni, Falz, Burna Boy shinning positively at the event.
Some of the early birds at the event include BBNaija host, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, BBNaija ex-housemates and winner, BamBam, Mike, Sir Dee, Avala, Tobi Bakre, Rico Swarvey, and Mercy. Other celebrities spotted at the event include Do2tun da energy god, Joeboy, Victor AD, Ubi Franklin, Eyinna Nwigwe, and Ruggedman while Nancy Isime and Reminisce hosted the show.
Paul Okoye of Upfront and Personal management was honoured with the Special Recognition award plaque while Burna Boy won the ‘Artiste of the Year‘ category aside other awards at the event which includes ‘Song of the year’ category and others.
Rema picked up ‘Next rated’ award for 2019 Headies while Killer-tunes emerged the ‘Producer of the year‘ for his production of ‘Fake Love’ featuring Starboy, Wizkid and Duncan Mighty.
Outstanding female Artiste, Teni won the award for ‘Best Vocalist Female‘ while Falz d bad guy joining Teni by winning the ‘Album of the year‘ category.
Mayorkun joins Falz by winning ‘Hip Hop World Revelation’ while Clarence Peters won the award for ‘Best music video‘ for Burna Boy‘s ‘Dangote’
Teni also added to her award her award for the night in the ‘Headies Viewers Choice‘ category and ‘Best Pop single‘ category while Mayorkun won the award for the ‘Best R&B Pop Album‘.
Seyi Shay won the award for ‘Best R&B single’ for her song, ‘Gimme Love’ featuring Runtown while Yemi Alade went home with the award for Best Performer.
Burna Boy and Zlatan Ibile won the award for ‘Best Collaboration’ while AQ won the award for ‘Lyricist on the roll’.
Johnny Drille won the award for Best Alternative song with the song, ‘Finding Efe’ while Falz d bhad guy wins the award for Best rap single.
Teni da entertainer won the award for the Best recording of the year while Wurld picks up the award for ‘Best Vocal performance’ .
Chinko Ekun won the award for Best Street-Hop artiste and Barry Jhay won the ‘Rookie of the year’ award and he goes down in history as the first artiste to receive his award at the 13th edition of the Headies.
