In a statement by the Caribbean Airlines, it has been reported that one of its ATR aircrafts hit a wall at the Trinidad airport. In the report released by the airline, the ATR-72 aircraft, with the number 9Y-TTA, hit the wall on March 6 at approximately 11.15 pm.
The aircraft was still being taxied off the ramp to an aircraft hanger at the Piarco International Airport when it hit the wall of the airport terminal building. The saving grace was that the aircraft had no passengers aboard since it has not been in service for a while.
The airline in its statement said none of its personnel were injured in the process and the aircraft is still being assessed to decipher the extent of damage done. It also confirmed that investigations are ongoing by the regular authorities to find out the cause of the incident.
Finally, stakeholders were assured by the airline of continued services on the air bridge.
