Alberto Friedmann was on Sunday charged with aggravated assault and hate crime. This follows the incident that happened on September 2nd where Friedmann is accused of spitting and hurling racial insults at a black woman and her daughter.
According to the prosecutors, the victims i.e. the black woman and her daughter were not blocking traffic when Friedmann attacked them. They were simply sitting inside their car parked along the traffic lane between the parking aisles and the grocery store as they waited for their mother to finish shopping in the jewel store.
It was at this juncture that the lady saw someone approach them from behind honking and yelling insults of all kinds. The woman then tried to motion for the man to drive away but he instead got out of his car and approached them while yelling all types of racial slurs.
Friedmann then spit on the woman’s face as she tried to get out of her car. He then pushed the woman’s car door, closing it as he got back into his vehicle. Friedmann escapades did not stop here. While driving away, he drove his car at high speed towards the woman who had now stepped out to try and get his car’s plate number.
By good luck the car missed the woman but hit her car damaging it. Friedmann was shortly arrested and admitted to hitting the woman’s car and spitting on her.
Friedmann is a professor at the National University of Health Sciences. He is expected back in court on Friday, September 24th.
