Guess who’s out of jail, it’s the one and only Earl Simmons, who is popular by the stage name, DMX. The repeat jailbird has been released the federal prison where he served a year’s term for tax evasion. He served his sentence at the Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution located in West Virginia.
His attorney has revealed that he is doing great and was picked up by his family shortly after his release. DMX, 48, is said to have gone straight to spend time with his girlfriend, Desiree, and his son Exodus. The rapper is expected to drop an album very soon as well as some other projects. He will probably be doing some movies too, likely to include a biopic.
Now here is the downside, DMX is going to be paying $2.3 million in restitution to Uncle Sam, as well as begin outpatient programs for mental health and substance abuse issues. He should have been released on Sunday, but Federal policy dictates that inmates who had their release dates fall on a weekend can be released earlier.
There will be a party at the Lotus Lounge in West Haven, Connecticut to welcome the rapper home. It holds on February 8, and tickets are available for sale to everyone above the age of 21.
