Dorothy Steel is a perfect example of the saying that it’s never too late to achieve a dream. Born in 1926, Steel managed to get her first acting role in 2015 at the age of 88 years. Steel has however lost the battle seven years after making the tremendous move as an elder of the Merchant Tribe in 2018’s Blank Panther.
Confirming the news of her demise, Cindy Butler, her agent, wrote in a Facebook post, “It’s with a heavy heart I announce this morning Dorothy Steel transitioned this morning in her hometown of Detroit. That is what she wanted to be home. Thank you Ms. Dorothy for giving me the opportunity to ride this waves you. Thank you for all the casting directors who hired Ms. Dorothy. Thank you to the world for loving on her from afar.”
Dorothy has featured in a couple of onscreen works since her feature in the Blank Panther in 2018. Some of these include different YouTube series, Bounce TV’s Saints and Sinners, BET’s The Oval, holiday TV movies, to name a few.
Until her demise on Friday morning, Steel was reprising her character for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film.
