Essence Magazine’s Fest, “party with a purpose” celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. To mark the celebrations, the producers of the event have announced the list of stars to perform at this year’s event. Mary J. Blige, Jermaine Dupri, Pharell, NAS, and Missy Elliott are among the over 80 stars on the lineup.
The event will hold on the weekend of July 4th. Over 80 artists are lined up to perform. The producers of the festival officially announced the list of artists on Monday. Famous comedienne and talk show host, Loni Love, is billed to host the show.
Timbaland, Musiq Soulchild, Teddy Reily, MC Lyte, Morris Day, Teyana Taylor, and Grammy winner, PJ Morton also make the list. The producers also announced that there will be a special part of the event in honor of Frankie Beverly for his immense contributions to music. NAS and Mary J. Blige are also be honored at the event as their respective albums “Illmatic” and “My Life” will mark 25-year anniversaries. The two albums will enjoy special airplay during the event.
The Superdome hosts the festival from July 4 to 7. The festival will feature three nights of concerts and daily workshops. There will also be opportunities for fans to meet their favorite music stars at the convention center daily.
