Floyd Mayweather finds himself embroiled in a legal battle as Eduardo Martinez, a patron at a Los Angeles restaurant, sues the famed boxer over an alleged assault involving a member of his security team. Martinez is demanding over $3 million in damages, citing battery and emotional distress stemming from the incident that occurred two years ago.
The alleged altercation unfolded in 2022 when Mayweather and his entourage, known as the Mayweather Money Team, entered the Yard House restaurant near the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. As the celebrity boxer’s presence attracted a crowd, Martinez, using his cellphone to record the scene, inadvertently caught the attention of Mayweather and his security detail.
According to Martinez’s lawsuit, a member of Mayweather’s security team allegedly assaulted him, leading to his fall to the ground. Martinez contends that Yard House staff failed to intervene, allowing Mayweather’s team to inflict harm upon him. He reported feeling a sense of imminent danger during the encounter, as he feared for his life, health, and safety.
While initial reports indicated that the altercation escalated when the bodyguard attempted to seize Martinez’s cellphone, causing further harm, police arrived at the scene 30 minutes later. Mayweather, amidst the commotion, left the restaurant due to overcrowding, leaving Martinez feeling traumatized and fearful for his safety.

Martinez is seeking substantial damages from Mayweather, totaling over $3 million. His demands include $1.5 million in general damages, $500,000 for future medical expenses, $40,000 for past medical expenses, $300,000 for loss of future earnings, and $1 million in punitive damages.
This lawsuit is not the first legal entanglement Mayweather has faced over an alleged assault.
TMZ reported a previous incident where a 32-year-old man accused Mayweather of assault after requesting a photo with the boxer. While Mayweather denied the allegations, no charges were brought forth following the incident.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Mayweather faces mounting pressure to address the allegations and navigate the complexities of the legal system, all while his reputation and legacy hang in the balance.
