BET drama series “American Soul”, based on the life and career of Soul Train creator Don Cornelius, have added the Grammy Award-winning duo, Michelle Williams and Bobby Brown to the mix.
The series which is set to premiere on February 5 in the US and February 7 in other parts of the globe, is star studded with icons such as Gabrielle Dennis, McKinley Freeman, Sinqua Walls, Kelly Price, Jason Dirden, Iantha Richardson, Christopher Jefferson, Katlyn Nichol, Jelani Winston, K. Michelle and Kelly Roland.
Michelle, singer and actress, is expected to star as the legendary Diana Ross, Bobby Brown is playing the role of Soul singer Rufus Thomas who sang the classic “do the funky chicken”. Kelly Rowland, also part of the Destiny Child crew alongside Michele, makes a cameo as “Gladys Knight”.
The American Soul series, American Soul produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, enlisted Bobby Brown has been the focus of two blockbuster mini-series on BET, The New Edition Story and The Bobby Brown Story and Michelle who recently returned to Broadway in a brief stint where she appeared as “Erzulie” in “Once on this Island” between November and December will work together on “American soul”.
Earlier this month, Michelle announced after concluding their press run for the series “Chad loves Michelle” her that she had split up with her fiancé Chad Johnson.
