“Ella B. Jenkins Meets Vice President Kamala Harris” is a new children’s book, authored by Eve Lynne Robinson and Whitney Jade Gordy.
The fictional book, tells a story of Ella B. Jenkins, who met the VP Harris at a march in Washington.
Created In 2009 by community based artist Eve Lynne Robinson. She is a perpetual 2nd grader and fictional character that is intended for all children to look up to. Ella B’s adventures offer perspectives from a mixed variety of cultures, social classes, and viewpoints influenced by the quickly changing political and social climates. She has a curiosity for all things within her community and is both intelligent and wise beyond her years. Ella B promotes various social causes and is enthusiastic about enhancing social conscious through related adventures. Ella B has met both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. She has virtually protested with Occupy Wall Street, promoted summer lunch programs in the city of Oakland, celebrated her knowledge of foods and meals that celebrate her Black culture, marched for peace and shouted Black Lives Matter to protest police brutality and criminalization of communities of color.
The ‘Ella B. Jenkins Meets series’ represents the author’s passion and is a testimony to her life’s work including establishing the Ella B. Jenkins Project in Nairobi, Kenya and applying her creative vision to Ella B. Jenkins ceramics, pencils, face masks, clothing, and soon-to-come dolls that children and adults alike will enjoy.
“I created Ella B. Jenkins because there was a need. A need to feel seen and a need to be represented. It’s about empowering the community and people of all ages,” says the artist, “who are so often ignored and underrepresented.”
