Looking at the history of Fine Art over centuries, it is evident that male artists have made an indelible mark on the art scene. They have produced remarkable masterpieces that will be remembered all through history.
In Nigeria, and indeed the global scene, women have begun making their mark in Fine Art. They are beginning to develop ways of sharing with the world their rare and amazing gift of art.
Anthonia Nneji stands out amongst her peers as she uses her paintings to pass messages about issues that have little awareness in society. She is a graduate of the University of Lagos and she says she is inspired by women. Her artwork has attracted attention from all over the world even though she has been in the business for barely three years.
She developed an interest in fine art at a tender age. She owes her interest to her lineage as she comes from a long line of traditional carvers. They were specialists in carving figurines and totems for worship. She is definitely making a mark with her art in a man’s world.
Check out a few of her paintings as we celebrate this Fine artist, graffiti artist, art blogger, and photographer.
