In 2017 R. Kelly was sued by a Sheriff from Mississippi because he believed Kelly played a major part in the crumbling of his marriage. The Sheriff accused Kelly of having an extramarital affair with his wife which led to his wife filing for a divorce.

Fast forward to a few days ago and the Sheriff has petitioned the court again in a controversial turn of events. This time he is complaining that Kelly’s representative on the case is the same lawyer that represented his ex-wife, Asia Bryant-Childress when she filed for divorce. The Mississippi Sheriff, Kenny Bryant, filed documents to state reasons why Felicia Perkins, who is representing the self-acclaimed “King of RnB” should not be on the case.
According to Bryant, due to Perkins’ role in his divorce with his ex-wife, she had become a witness and so was ineligible to defend Kelly. He, therefore, pleaded that the court disqualifies her from working on the case.

R. Kelly is being accused of having an affair with Childress from October 2012 which is said to have lasted 5 years. Bryant even claims Kelly infected his wife with chlamydia while at it.
Kelly has however denied all of the allegations saying he owes the man nothing and the case should be thrown out of court.
