Stella Nyanzi is a Ugandan academician and controversial activist currently hospitalized at a prison sick bay in Uganda. The activist suffered a miscarriage while in jail and is being admitted at the hospital for hypertension.
This was disclosed at the court last Wednesday where Nyanzi appeared for the hearing of a case she filed against Makerere Univeristy, her last employer. In a complaint presented by the academician, she told the court that the state of her health had been a stumbling block to her signing an affidavit which was needed to support her case. For the record, Nyanzi is seeking that she be re-instated by Makerere University to her former position at the institution.

The lecturer is among several others fired by the university last month for several offences, most which were absenteeism and sexual harassment related. Nyanzi was incacerated last November at the Ugandan Maximum security prison in the country’s capital, Kampala. She was accused of cyber harassment of the Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni.
The major accusation is that Nyanzi insulted the president’s deceased mother using her Facebook account. This incident occurred the very day the President celebrated his 74th birthday.
Stella Nyanzi is mother to three children, among whom is a set of twins which earned her the title, “Nalongo.”
