A young woman of 23, was killed by a young Texan after the boy crashed into her. Prior to the crash, the boy was seen consuming loads of alcohol, and wasn’t asked for his identification by the bartenders.
Taylor Philips was driving her SUV when she was run into by Eric Hernandez, who allegedly crossed three traffic lanes before ramming her and condemning her to death. The incident happened at night, and Taylor was in the car with her mother and one year old son.
He was reported to have been at the bar with his cousin, drinking alcohol before he left and crashed into Taylor’s SUV. He has been arraigned before the court on charge of manslaughter under intoxication. He had consumed 12 shots of tequila before leaving the bar and getting into his truck.
The bartenders, who worked at the South Houston Bar, did not ask for his identification even when they saw he was underage. Three of which have also been arrested for taking shots of tequila as seen in a video by the prosecutors. One of them was also charged with possession of an illegal beverage retailer. The manager, Gustavo Tejada, 28, was also arrested and has appeared before the court.

The prosecutor said that “the bar did not even possess the license to sell alcoholic beverages” and “the “irresponsibility of all those involved robbed a one-year old child of his mother”. Regardless, they have been charged to court but have all refused to make any comment as to the allegations made against them. This happened on Wednesday, according to reports.

Hernandez himself has been granted a $3000 bail. The other bartenders charged to court are Joaquin Gonzalez, Jazely Marie Barrera, Mildred “Milly” Garcia and Anna Evelyn Lula.
The district attorney’s office is considering taking action that will lead to sealing off of the bar. The bar has continued to sell drinks to minors and have been slammed with 6 TACB violations prior to this tragic incidence.
