Thousands of Sudanese have crossed the northern Arqin border into Egypt to flee fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in their country, which erupted in mid-April.
Buses are lining up at the border, and families are sleeping outside in the desert while waiting to enter the neighboring country.
“I left my home, my place because of the fighting between people of the same country against each other,” said Sudanese citizen Nawal al-Sharif.

It went on to say that 2,000 more nationals from 50 other countries or international organizations had crossed into or were airlifted to Egypt.
According to the Sudanese Health Ministry, at least 512 people have been killed and 4,200 have been injured since the fighting began.
According to the Doctors’ Syndicate, which tracks civilian casualties, at least 295 civilians have been killed and 1,790 have been injured.
Tens of thousands of Khartoum residents have also fled to neighboring provinces or existing camps in Sudan that house victims of previous conflicts.
Egypt maintains close ties with the Sudanese military but has urged both sides to put an end to the fighting.
