West Africa’s leading university, Covenant University, Nigeria, had her 14th Convocation ceremony this week. This year’s graduation was tagged, “The Release of Eagles”. The program kicked off on Wednesday, 17th of July, 2019 with a Special Convocation Assembly, A Hooding Event for the postgraduate students and a special convocation service. The convocation lecture was delivered by Prof. Peter A. Okebukola, who centered on “World Ranking Parameters: Matters Arising For African Universities”. Also, the event featured an exhibition showcasing creative original products.
The main convocation ceremony took place today, Friday, 19th July, 2019. The ceremony which commenced by 9:00am featured a keynote address delivered by Dr. Monisoye Afolabi, Chairman of Baobab Media and Baobab Think Limited and Former Director of Business Environment, United States Agency for International Development Trade Hub, Ghana. The keynote speech was titled, “The Africa We Want: The Role of Higher Education”. The public occasion also highlighted the award of first and higher degrees and presentation of special prizes and awards to the merit candidates.
Covenant University which was established in October, 2002 has scaled great heights nationally and on the global scene. It ranks 36th among universities founded in the 21st century and top 200 among the world’s young universities. Also, the university has emerged outstanding at various competitions with a recent victory at The National Enactus Tourney on Thursday, 11th of July, 2019.
