Republicans senator Tim Scott was charged with giving the official Republican rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s first big national address; and as usual with black Republicans like Candace Owens, he was out of reality and went ahead to make really foolish statements. Here is an excerpt from his speech;
I’ve also experienced a different kind of intolerance. I get called “Uncle Tom” and the n-word by progressives, by liberals. Just last week, a national newspaper suggested my family’s poverty was actually privilege because a relative owned land generations before my time…You know this stuff is wrong. Hear me clearly: America is not a racist country. It’s backwards to fight discrimination with different types of discrimination. And it’s wrong to try to use our painful past to dishonestly shut down debates in the present.
While unveiling the Republican police reform bill on Wednesday, Senator Tim Scott said that the U.S. is “not a racist country”; and criticized Democrats for what he saw as their relentless focus on race, advocating a discrete approach; to policy solutions designed to address police brutality.
Scott, the Senate’s only black Republican, remarked in a press conference held to unveil the legislation that; “some people enjoy talking about systemic racism” and “want to define everything from a racist perspective.”
His speech elicited outrage on twitter even some white folks got into trouble in their own backlash of Tim Scott.
This is not your term to use @ScottNevins. pic.twitter.com/LKEaD2y6Zc

Tonight I tried to do an ironic joke about Sen Tim Scott using the term “Uncle Tom” in his rebuttal. While I was shocked by his lack of self awareness, I should not have used that term myself, even in reference. That was not right. I apologize.
