Before the elections, Maxine Waters, A California Congresswoman didn’t hide her thoughts on Black men and women who vote for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
“Any of them showing their face, I will never ever forgive them for undermining the possibility to help their own people and their own communities. It is absolutely unconscionable,” Rep. Waters said on SiriusXM’s The Joe Madison Show.
Waters went on to lampoon the president for dividing the country and his response to the coronavirus pandemic, which has left more than 220,000 dead.
Maxine Waters On Trump
“The divisiveness that this deplorable human being has caused, the confrontation, the dog-whistling to the right-wing, the white supremacists, the KKK, and they’re coming alive,” she added. “They’re emboldened because they’ve got a leader who wants them to do it. What did he say to the Proud Boys? Stand back and stand ready? Ready for what—confrontation? Give me a break, Joe. I thank you. I know you’re on it, doing everything that you can. We’ve got to shout it from the rooftops—vote, vote, vote.”
During his time as president, Trump has either sidestepped or refused to condemn white supremacists on numerous occasions, pressured the NFL into essentially banning Colin Kaepernick for his police brutality protest, and called the Black Lives Matter mural a symbol of hate.
Despite the above, several Black musicians have endorsed Trump in recent weeks, including Lil Wayne and 50 Cent, although he has since reversed course. Another rapper, Ice Cube, received backlash for meeting with Jared Kushner to discuss his Contract for Black America. Cube responded by saying the Trump campaign was willing to meet with him but Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s campaign did not want to meet with him until after the election.
According to REVOLT, Madison brought up a Sun Sentinel article saying Black men and women can tip the state in Democrats favor. Waters responded saying Black Americans who vote for Trump will be remembered in the history books.
